شركة واتساب عادت الجمعة الماضي 15 يناير وتراجعت عن خطتها إجبار مستخدميها وعددهم نحو مليارين في كل أنحاء العالم، الموافقة على شروط استخدام جديدة تتيح له مزيدا من البيانات مع «فيسبوك» المالكة للتطبيق، على أن يُمنع المستخدمون، الذين يرفضون الموافقة على الشروط الجديدة من استعمال حساباتهم اعتباراً من الثامن من فبراير. وأعلن إرجاء تعديل قواعد الخصوصية عقب احتجاجات المستخدمين، مؤكداً أنه لن يتم تعليق أو حذف أي حساب في الثامن من فبراير، وأوضح التطبيق أنه سيبذل جهداً أكبر لتوضيح المعلومات الخاطئة بشأن الخصوصية والأمن، وأن التحديث الأخير لا يوسع قاعدة مشاركة البيانات مع فيسبوك.
وقبل ذلك بأيام وفي الهند تحديداً، كانت ولا تزال شركة «فيسبوك» المالكة لتطبيق «واتساب» تواجه تحدياً قانونياً جديداً، حيث قُدّم التماس قضائي، يتهم سياسة الخصوصية الجديدة بتهديد الأمن الهندي بمشاركته وإرساله وتخزينه بيانات المستخدمين في دول أخرى، ما يجعل هذه المعلومات خاضعة لقوانين أجنبية، خصوصاً أن سياسة «واتساب» الجديدة تمنح الشركة المالكة ملف تعريف شخصي بـ360 درجة عن نشاط الفرد عبر الإنترنت.
إن النفوذ المتعاظم لشركات التقنية الأمريكية مشهد مرتبك وحافل بالأخطار على الدول والمجتمعات والصناعات. وفي حين أنه يثير الريبة عن الدور الحقيقي لمواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، فإنه يوجه تنبيهاً لضرورة خلق بدائل محلية على الطريقة الصينية، فضلاً عن تطوير التشريعات الحالية لمواكبة تحديات المجتمع الافتراضي.
